Now Unlimited is a photographic concept based on Marc T. visions on photography.
A photographer is a witness of time using the image as a non verbal language. Every photograph is made in a time of period or era, on the moment, and reflects always that period of time. A strong photographs do not need words and do not need to be explained, the opposite only state the acceptance of its failure.
I made my very first photograph in 1968, I was then 10 years old, with an old Kodak Retina with a 35mm roll that I borrowed from my uncle. Playing photographer and model, imitating fashion shots from magazines I photographed my niece in the garden of our grandparents’ in France. Years later in 1977 a friend from London introduced me to Cecil Beaton. I started as a studio boy to become one of his last assistants. Cecil Beaton initiated me to photography and clearly defined my vision on photography. His often repeated following words: “Never compromise and never become a slave of the common, avoid to be a play-it-safer” are still ringing deep in my mind.
From 1995 I decided to concentrate on my own photography and to develop my personal vision.
All photographs presented are results of a long process of thought, aesthetic research and a constant questioning of the photographic process. A photograph is never really perfect, that particularity is a powering force behind continuity in work. It is somehow reaching the perfection into imperfection. Self criticism is the highest quality for any photographic or artistic process.
The several categories are different approaches on photography but always fond in the same desire for aesthetics. Portrait photography has large part in my work, there is magic and fascination in capturing the uniqueness of a person. Beauty is not what we decide to be, it is part of the person, it is the deep inside of personality. Beautiful people are those who dare to be themselves and having the courage to express it. Portrait is beyond making a photograph of a sitter, it is an intense moment of a short relationship, trust and collaboration between the photographer and the protagonist. The better we know the person the better the portrait will be.
Currently I live and work both in Antwerpen (Belgium) and Firenze Tuscany (Italy).
